A new survey released by Beach.com reveals some of the best beaches in the country for taking a break from screens and social media.

So much of life these days involves digital media, and when you want to get away from it all, a beach is the perfect place to unplug.
A new survey released by Beach.com reveals some of the best beaches in the country for taking a break from screens and social media.
All the beaches were ranked on a variety of factors that made them best for digital detox, including: number of businesses per square mile, cell and broadband coverage, percent of protected land and reviews with digital detox keywords like "peace, quiet, low crowds and relaxation."

Secret Beach: Oregon
Nestled along Oregon's southern coast, Secret Beach is a hidden oasis.
Nearly 74% of Curry County's land is protected, and the area only has 52% cell phone coverage.

Secret Beach earned a 9.5 out of 10 digital detox score.
In addition, the scenery will take your breath away with offshore rock formations, craggy bluffs and just the sounds of nature.

Mashes Sands Beach: Florida
Hot on the heels of Secret Beach is Mashes Sands, earning a 9.4 on the detox scale.
Mashes Sands is a hidden treasure of Wakulla County on Florida's Gulf Coast, and is surrounded by saltwater marshes, a ton of wildlife and is an excellent place to watch the sunset.

The beach has 80% broadband and 88% cell phone coverage, but 48% of the county's land is protected.
Additionally, 27% of reviews of the beach highlighted digital detox keywords, making it an ideal place to relax.

Third Beach: Washington
Third Beach on Washington's Olympic Coast is an oasis of coastal forest and sandy beach.
Well-maintained, the beach is managed by Olympic National Park in the Olympic Wilderness.
Hike through the coastal forest to get to this beautiful beach, and enjoy the quiet sounds of nature and the ocean while you take a sandy stroll.

Third Beach's high digital detox score comes from its low cell coverage, sitting at 58%.

Jasper Beach: Maine
This rocky beach in the town of Machiasport, Maine, earned a 9.3 digital detox score.
Jasper Beach is a barrier split and is cracked by fresh and saltwater lagoons, according to the Town of Machiasport.
The beach's digital detox score tied with Third Beach in Washington, but has 73% cell phone coverage and 25% of its county land protected.

Horseshoe Beach: Florida
Located in the Florida Keys, Horseshoe Beach is shaped like a large horseshoe.

The beach is extremely remote, and has 48% cell coverage. It earned a digital detox score of 9.0.
Holly Beach: Louisiana
A tranquil coastal community in Louisiana, Holly Beach got an 8.9 digital detox score and has 0.1 businesses per square mile.

It has high cell coverage, but spottier broadband coverage.
According to Cameron Parish, visitors to Holly Beach can enjoy crabbing, swimming and driving on the beach.

Oyhut Wildlife Recreation Area: Washington
Oyhut Wildlife Recreation Area is located on the south end of the Ocean Shores Peninsula in Grays Harbor County.
This area is known for its wildlife viewing opportunities, and is popular for birding and wildfowl hunting, according to the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife.

Rancho Guadalupe Dunes Preserve: California
The Rancho Guadalupe Dunes Preserve just south of Guadalupe, California, made the list with a score of 8.7.
The preserve features 550-foot-high dunes that are the tallest on the West Coast, according to the Guadalupe-Nipomo Dunes Center.

Though more populated with 2.7 businesses per square mile, the dunes preserve is a great place to surf, fish, hike, view wildlife and enjoy the beauty of nature.

Short Beach: Oregon
Situated in Tillamook County, Oregon, Short Beach earned a score of 8.5 for digital detox beaches.
It's a small, secluded beach situated in a cove off Oregon's central coast.

Seventy percent of Tillamook County's lands are protected, and cell overage is spottier at 64%.
Crandon Beach: Florida

Located in a very populated area with good cell and broadband coverage, 65% of the area's lands are protected.
