Finally fall taking over the US with chilly temperatures by the weekend
The battle between summer and fall continues across the U.S. Many will finally feel the chill of fall while others will be stuck in the summer before a cooldown.

The coast-to-coast storm brings a crazy mix of seasons to the U.S. The mountains and the Plains will see snow and wind chills in the 20s. The center part of the nation is dealing with severe weather and a surge in temperatures, return to summer. The East will have a momentary return to summer before fall sets in for the weekend.
It's finally beginning to feel a lot like fall across the nation and in some areas winter.
A coast-to-coast storm will let chilly Canadian air push south and infiltrate much of the U.S. by the weekend.
"Tthis is really the first major outbreak of cold air that we're going to see for the season. And just put it in perspective, the last two days, we're talking Monday and Tuesday, Denver was 80 degrees and it was 76 yesterday. So you talk about summer," said Meteorologist Bob Van Dillen.
"That's why it fell and not going to feel like that much longer. You can see the way it looks right now, feeling like winter for sure. Low temperatures in the morning," he continued. "When you wake up on Saturday, you're going at Denver, right about 34 degrees. Pueblo, 31, even cold, Kansas, 32 degrees, Casper into the 20.

But not everyone gets thrown into fall, and some into winter at the same time.
"To the south and east of this system, much above normal temperatures will overspread the Southern Plains, into the Midwest and East through Friday with afternoon maximums in the 70s likely or even the 80s for some," said the WPC's discussion.

Plains, Midwest and Northeast
The Southern Plains, South and Mid-Atlantic states will actually feel a brief warmup in the warm sector of the Storm on Thursday and part of Friday.
"To the south and east of this system, much above normal temperatures will overspread the southern Plains, into the Midwest and East Thursday and Friday with daytime highs in the 70s likely or even the 80s for some," wrote the WPC.

Most of the eastern half of the country will be below average by the end of the weekend.

West and Plains
In the West, we have a battle between fall and summer this October. Chilly air dropping in behind the cold front will knock temperatures down to below average.

Only the extreme South hands on to heat through the weekend as another front approaches.

STRONG EL NINO WINTER: WHAT KIND OF WEATHER YOU CAN EXPECT
The mountains and Plains skip over fall and head straight to winter. Strong winds pick up on the back side of the storm. Winds usher in the cold air then chill everyone down a bit more with wind chills in the 20s.

Even the South feels a bit of a chill for the weekend when the front sweeps through.

The South has to deal with another bout of tropical moisture then the cold front sweeps it all away along with the tropical temperatures.
