Don downgraded to post-tropical cyclone, expected to dissipate over Atlantic on Tuesday

Don briefly became the first hurricane of the 2023 Atlantic hurricane season on Saturday, but by Sunday morning it was downgraded to a tropical storm.

MIAMI Don is quickly becoming a thing of the past after the National Hurricane Center downgraded it from a tropical storm to a post-tropical cyclone and issued its last advisory on Monday.

Don has sustained winds of about 45 mph with some higher gusts and is drifting off to the east-northeast at about 20 mph.

The NHC says that movement should continue until Don dissipates on Tuesday.

No other advisories will be issued by the NHC.
