Tropical downpours target Florida, Southeast with much-needed drought relief through weekend
A more active weather pattern is settling in across the Southeast coast and the Florida Peninsula, bringing a surge of tropical moisture that will support repeated rounds of heavy rain and thunderstorms through the weekend. A stalled front will tap into tropical moisture that has surged across the region, which will allow daily storms to produce heavy downpours. Parts of northern Georgia are under a Level 2 out of 4 threat of flash flooding Friday where soils remain saturated from storms earlier this week. Parts of Coastal South Carolina and Georgia could see 2 to 3 inches of rain through the weekend.
