More than 52 million people are under a severe weather threat across parts of the Plains, Midwest, Ohio Valley and the Mid-Atlantic on Wednesday, the first of several days of storms expected to last through the weekend — setting the stage for potential flash flooding.

According to FOX Forecast Center, ahead of the cold front, a surge of warm and above-average temperatures will impact St. Louis, MO to New York City on Thursday. Some areas will reach the 70s and 80s. But as the blast of cold air moves in, those locations’ temperatures will drop to the 40s and 30s.
