Dramatic body camera footage released by the NYPD shows a Harbor Unit officer jumping into Newtown Creek in Queens to rescue a woman who was struggling to stay afloat. After throwing her a flotation device, the officer swam to the woman and safely guided her back to the patrol boat, where she received medical attention.
The New York Police Department (NYPD) released dramatic body camera footage on Sunday showing an officer heroically rescuing a woman who was drowning in a creek in Queens.

When emergency crews arrived at the scene, they found the woman clinging to a wooden piling as she struggled to stay afloat.

The video shows officers attempting to rescue her from their boat, but they were unable to move any closer because of the pilings that surrounded her in the water.
Seconds later, one of the officers threw a life-saving flotation device at the woman. Without hesitation, the officer jumped into the murky water and swam to her.

The woman received medical assistance after she was saved by the NYPD officer.

Using the flotation device, the officer pulled the woman back to the boat, where another officer helped lift her aboard.

The woman is then seen receiving medical assistance before being placed on a stretcher.
