Labor Day weekend 2026 is nearly here, and millions of people will take to the roads and sky to squeeze in one last trip before the warm weather slips away.

AAA published the top 10 places for domestic travel heading into Labor Day weekend, in case you've been wanting a getaway, but forgot to plan it.

Whether you're chasing the last bits of summer warmth or itching for a cool, fall-feeling destination, this list has it all:

1. Seattle, Washington

Seattle is the number one destination for domestic Labor Day travel in 2026, according to AAA.

In Seattle, temperatures are expected to be in the upper 60s and low 70s for Labor Day weekend, offering a sneak peek at fall for those craving cooler weather.

Labor Day weekend should be filled with a number of activities, including Bumbershoot 2026, a music and arts festival, and the Bremerton Blackberry Festival on top of the typical Seattle sights like the Space Needle and Pike Place Market. 

2. Orlando, Florida 

On the opposite end of the spectrum in both location and climate, Orlando, Florida, is another fan-favorite Labor Day getaway. 

Of course, the home of Disney World, Universal Orlando Resort and a number of water parks and other fun family-friendly activities, Orlando features lovely warmth year-round.

Temperatures this Labor Day weekend are expected to be in the mid to upper-80s.

3. Boston, Massachusetts 

Boston is a great New England destination for Labor Day weekend, and is number three on AAA's list.

Temperatures in Boston for the weekend will hover around 70 before rising just a little on Labor Day itself into the upper 70s, according to the FOX Forecast Center.

For those visiting Boston this weekend, don't forget to check out Boston Public Garden right next to Boston Commons, Newbury Street for shopping or, of course, the New England Aquarium.

4. Denver, Colorado

Denver is another excellent Labor Day weekend destination featured by AAA.

Temperatures are soaring well above average for Labor Day weekend across the Central U.S., so Denver will be quite hot all weekend with temperatures forecast around 90 all weekend.

Take advantage of nature and go on a late-evening stroll when things have cooled down for the day and roast some marshmallows around a fire, explore local shops and art or enjoy some delicious eats when in Denver.

5. New York, New York

New York City was number five on AAA's list of Labor Day weekend locations.

The Big Apple will still be bustling and busy as people celebrate that last weekend before most people return to school for the year, but that doesn't mean you can't catch a show on Broadway, grab a fabulous dinner and cocktail, go to one of New York's famous museums and galleries or check out the Empire State Building or Top of the Rock at Rockefeller Center.

Temperatures are expected to be in the upper 70s and low 80s all weekend.

6. Chicago, Illinois

Chicago is another favorite domestic Labor Day weekend trip for Americans.

Temperatures in Chicago this weekend are expected to be in the 80s for the majority of the weekend heading into Labor Day.

Anaheim and Los Angeles also made AAA's list of Labor Day weekend getaways.

Los Angeles is known for its mild year-round temperatures and pleasant climate. Temps this Labor Day weekend are expected to be in the low 80s all weekend.

Catch a festival or concert, do some shopping, head to the beach and enjoy the scenery when in Los Angeles this Labor Day.

8. Las Vegas, Nevada

Las Vegas is another popular Labor Day vacation featured by AAA.

Stay in one of Las Vegas' iconic hotels on the Las Vegas Strip, see a show at the Sphere or check out the casinos for fun things to do this Labor Day weekend.

10. Atlanta, Georgia

Atlanta was the final popular destination on AAA's Labor Day travel list.

It's still summer in Atlanta, where temperatures Labor Day weekend are expected to be in the mid-90s on Saturday and Sunday and upper 80s on Monday. Scattered afternoon thunderstorms all weekend might briefly disrupt any outdoor plans, but don't let that ruin the holiday if you're visiting.
