Brewing nor'easter to bring massive swells, gusty winds to East Coast
A powerful nor'easter is set to bring significant impacts to the East Coast from the Carolinas to New England. Effects of the brewing storm are already showing in Cape May, New Jersey, as gusty winds and rough surf dominate the beaches.
A powerful nor'easter is building for the East Coast this week, preparing to bring impacts from the Carolinas all the way to New England, threatening weekend plans for millions.
The storm is forecast to emerge off the coast toward the end of the week and is expected to bring pounding surf, strong winds and severe beach erosion as the weekend progresses.

Coastal flooding is also expected to be an issue, especially during high tide.
The exact track of the storm remains uncertain, so which cities will see the most severe impacts is yet to be determined. Though the FOX Forecast Center said Boston appears to be the focal point for the storm at this time.
We want to keep you informed on not only the storm's forecast, but the status of some popular weekend festivities that could be affected by this monster nor'easter.
Festivals and outdoor gatherings
The first weekend of fall proves to be a busy one with numerous outdoor events at risk of being canceled.
STILL ON
The annual Feast of San Genarro in New York City's Little Italy is continuing as planned for now, with the event scheduled on both Saturday and Sunday.

The Tunnel to Towers 5K Walk/Run, which gathers thousands each year, follows the footsteps of FDNY Firefighter Stephen Siller and honors the memory of all the heroes lost on 9/11, is still planned for Sunday, Sept. 27.
Yes Chef Food Fest: New York is also still on track for the weekend. This ticketed event takes place in Citi Field's parking lot and features world-class food, immersive experiences, unforgettable live moments and the world's most passionate food community, according to the event's website.

Stone Street Oktoberfest in New York City and the 18th annual South Street Oktoberfest in Philadelphia are also continuing as planned on Saturday.
CANCELED
Meanwhile, some events have been rescheduled or canceled because of the forecasted conditions.
Greenport Maritime Festival in Greenport, New York, on Long Island is postponed until the weekend of Oct. 16 due to the brewing nor'easter.

Bristol Porchfest, a community music event in Bristol, Rhode Island, was originally set to happen on Sept. 20, but was rescheduled for this upcoming Sunday. The event hasn't said if it will be postponed again due to weather.
NFL Week 3
Three different NFL games are scheduled across the region at 1 p.m. this Sunday and could be impacted by this nor'easter.
The Tennessee Titans will take on the New York Giants at MetLife Stadium.

Outdoor concerts
The Global Citizen Festival on the Great Lawn in New York City's Central Park is still scheduled for Saturday evening. The event features Alicia Keys & Friends, Ms. Lauren Hill and Wyclef Jean and Lenny Kravitz.

The Ed Sheeren Loop Tour at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts, is still planned for Friday and Saturday evening.
All Things Go in New York City at Forest Hills Stadium and All Things Go in the Washington, D.C. DMV at Merriweather Post Pavilion are still on rain or shine. The events feature headliners like Zara Larsson, Mitski, Muna and more.

Rock band Turnstile is still set to go on at Thompson's Point in Portland, Maine, as well this Saturday. Ray LaMontagne is set to play at Leader Bank Pavilion in Boston on Saturday, no matter the conditions.
AC/DC's Power Up Tour is scheduled for this Friday at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. All Time Low will also play this Friday at Stone Pony Summer Stage in Asbury Park, New Jersey.
Major League Baseball
It's the last week of the MLB regular season, and with several games planned for this weekend at open-air fields, there's a high risk of rain delays and postponements.
The New York Yankees play the Orioles at Yankee Stadium on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. All three games could be impacted.

The Boston Red Sox play the Chicago Cubs at Fenway Park all weekend.

The Tampa Bay Rays will face the Philadelphia Phillies at Citizens Bank Park this weekend as well.
And the New York Mets will travel to Nationals Park in Washington, D.C. to play the Washington Nationals on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
No rain delays or postponements have been announced yet, but as the games get closer there will likely be a few.
Other sports
Much like the other sports of the weekend, college football and Major League Soccer also face delays at outdoor stadiums in the region.
Army plays Temple Friday afternoon in Chestnut Hill and Howard plays Rutgers in New Jersey on Friday night.

On Saturday, numerous games could be impacted.
Virginia Tech takes on Boston College, UCLA plays Maryland, Delaware challenges Virginia, Robert Morris takes on Buffalo and Fordham challenges Stony Brook at various times Saturday afternoon and evening.
Two soccer games on Saturday at outdoor fields could be affected by this nor'easter.
