Severe thunderstorms, including possible tornadoes, will target the eastern Carolinas on Monday.
Severe thunderstorms, including the threat of a few tornadoes, will target the eastern Carolinas to kick off the first workweek of 2022.
NOAA's Storm Prediction Center has issued a Tornado Watch valid until 11 a.m. Eastern time for coastal North Carolina and extreme northeastern South Carolina. This includes Hatteras and Wilmington, North Carolina, and Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
A Tornado Watch is in effect until 11 a.m. Eastern time Monday, Jan. 3, 2022.

The severe storms in the eastern Carolinas will also be capable of damaging wind gusts in excess of 60 mph.

As the cold front responsible for the storms exits the East Coast by midday Monday, the severe weather threat will come to an end.
