Northeast receives up to foot of snow as coastal storm exits Monday

Towns in New Hampshire and New York picked up at least 10 inches of snow between Sunday and Monday morning.

NEW YORK – The remaining winter weather alerts in New England were canceled Monday morning, one day after a coastal storm hit the Northeast and brought heavy rain and snow to the region on Sunday.

The bulk of the precipitation came to an end overnight, but some lingering snow showers continued into the early-morning hours.

The FOX Forecast Center said the low-pressure system will continue to pull away from the region on Monday. As it does so, it could produce additional light snow showers in parts of the Northeast and central Appalachians as colder air filters in behind the storm.

How much snow fell in the Northeast, New England?

Tannersville in the Catskill Mountains of New York hit the state's snow jackpot with this storm and picked up 10 inches of snow. 

Also in upstate New York, Knox picked up 9.5 inches of snow and Middleburgh received 9 inches, while places like Halcott Center and Austerlitz picked up between 7.5 and 8 inches of snow.

Massachusetts also saw some impressive totals, which were mainly confined to the higher elevations and towns farther north. Ashby picked more than 8 inches of snow, while Ashburnham picked up just under 8 inches of snow.

HOW TO WATCH FOX WEATHER

New Hampshire also picked up some impressive snow totals from the storm. Dunbarton picked up a foot, while New Ipswich picked up 10 inches of snow.

Towns in Maine picked up more than 8 inches of snow, including Acton and Limerick.
