As numerous disturbances continue to ride around the periphery of the heat dome that is parked across the South, the abundance of rain across the Central U.S. and Midwest will eventually shift into the Northeast late this weekend.

According to the FOX Forecast Center, some rain will be possible across the interior Northeast, particularly western Pennsylvania and western New York.
However, the bulk of the rainfall will arrive on Sunday.
By Sunday morning, heavy rain and downpours will move through New York and Pennsylvania before reaching Connecticut and southern New England by midday.

This comes just a week after numerous reports of flash flooding across New Jersey and Connecticut.
Soils remain saturated, meaning additional rainfall, especially from storms with high rain rates, could trigger more flash flooding.

In total, from Saturday to Sunday, rainfall will generally reach 1 to 2 inches from western New York into southeastern New England, with localized 2 to 3 inch totals or more possible across Upstate New York, western Massachusetts, Cape Cod and the Islands.
Additionally, into early to mid-next week, some long-range models are hinting at a coastal low developing off the Northeast coast.
With high pressure to the north, this could bring additional rain and gusty winds.
