Multiple people injured after tornado moves through Louisiana Sunday

Deputies say five people were injured when their mobile home was destroyed after a tornado moved through Peason.

Multiple people were injured Sunday morning after a tornado and severe storms moved through Louisiana.

Deputies say five people were injured when their mobile home was destroyed after a tornado moved through Peason. The National Weather Service (NWS) confirmed the EF-2 with maximum winds around 125 mph. The half-mile-wide tornado traveled 3.5 miles.

"So far, 11 homes, 5 barns, 2 sets of chicken houses, and many outdoor sheds and vehicles have been damaged or destroyed," the Sabine Parish Sheriff’s Office wrote at 9 a.m. Sunday.

Storm damage is creating problems on the roadways in Sabine Parish as some roads are impassable due to low hanging power lines. Deputies say that travel is not encouraged until everything has been cleared.

This same system produced severe weather in eastern Texas on Saturday.

The severe weather threat shifts east Sunday, where tornadoes are again possible for parts of the Southeast.
