OSSEO, Wis. – Authorities are investigating several crashes Thursday on a stretch of Wisconsin interstate, and icy roads are likely to blame.

According to FOX 11 News in Green Bay, as many as 100 vehicles may have been involved in crashes on a stretch of Interstate 94 near Osseo, about 25 miles southeast of Eau Claire.

Video shared with Storyful showed fire and smoke at the scene of the one of the crashes.

Large fire captured on Interstate 94 in Western Wisconsin. Icy conditions have led to over 100 vehicles being involved in crashes. 

In a tweet, officials with Wisconsin State Patrol said there are icy conditions on I-94 in Jackson, Eau Claire and Dunn counties.

"WSP is investigating a number of crashes/run-offs between mile markers 97-37," officials said in the tweet.

Officials said in a later tweet that no one was killed in the crashes and that all injuries appeared to be non-life-threatening. They said many of the vehicles involved in the crashes were semi-trailers.

A band of heavy snow and ice is moving across Wisconsin Thursday morning with a clipper system.

A road conditions map maintained by the Wisconsin Department of Transportation shows ice-covered roads from the Minnesota state line to Eau Claire to near Fond du Lac.
