Veterans Day falls on Thursday this year.
The day is meant to honor those who serve and protect America through military service. It was started in 1919 to remember Armistice Day, when fighting during World War I came to an end. In 1954, it was changed to Veterans Day to honor American veterans of all wars.
From sea to shining sea, here is the forecast for nine of the most patriotically named towns we could find in America.
Veterans Day could be a bit stormy, at least during the early part of the day in Liberty, Texas. Look for temperatures to climb into the upper 70s with breezy conditions.
It’ll be a cold and damp Veterans Day in Eagle, Idaho. Watch for a chance of showers, mainly in the early part of the day. Otherwise, some fog is possible. Temperatures will top out in the upper 40s or low 50s.
The weather looks fantastic for Veterans Day in Independence, Kansas. Sunny skies will help temperatures climb into the low 60s by the afternoon. It’ll be a bit breezy, as well.
New Freedom, Pennsylvania
Clouds will be increasing throughout Veterans Day in New Freedom, Pennsylvania, with rain chances increasing by the evening. Expect windy conditions, as well. Temperatures will top out near 60 degrees.
Expect a soggy Veterans Day in Patriot, Indiana. Rain is likely, especially in the afternoon. Otherwise, skies will be cloudy. Temperatures will top out in the mid-60s before dropping into the 40s by the evening. Winds will be gusty, as well.
Beautiful, but chilly weather is expected in Flagstaff, Arizona, on Veterans Day. Skies will be sunny, but temperatures will only get into the upper 50s for highs. A stiff wind out of the east will add an extra bite to those cool temperatures.
Veteran, New York
Skies look to be mostly cloudy on Veterans Day in Veteran, New York. The chance of rain will increase by the evening. Temperatures should climb into the upper 50s for highs. Expect some breezy conditions at times, as well.
Eagle Butte, South Dakota
Cold and windy weather is expected in Eagle Butte, South Dakota, on Veterans Day. Temperatures will only climb into the low 40s for highs, but strong northwest winds will make it feel much colder. Clouds will increase throughout the day, as well.
It’ll be a damp Veterans Day in Columbus, Georgia. Showers are likely throughout the day with some storms possible in the afternoon. Otherwise, expect cloudy skies. Temperatures will get into the low to mid-70s with some breezy conditions at times.
