Severe storms target the Sunshine State as tropical downpours soak thousands of people with no signs of slowing down through the weekend.
FLORIDA – The Sunshine State is in the spotlight for nasty weather and heavy rain all week long as tropical moisture surges across the state.
Tropical downpours will move across Florida throughout the week, as a massive high-pressure heat dome over the Eastern U.S. helps drive gusty easterly winds across the state.
This strong onshore flow will produce slow-moving rain showers and thunderstorms, with precipitation rates exceeding 1 to 2 inches per hour.

Popular cities such as Miami could see 2 to 3 inches of rain through Sunday, as the wet weather began on Wednesday, according to the FOX Forecast Center.
Because of the severe storm conditions and high rainfall expectations, prediction markets at Kalshi are exploring how much rain Miami will receive by the end of the month.
