The core of a life-threatening heat dome has shifted over the eastern U.S. through the July 4 holiday weekend, bringing days of extreme heat to more than 260 million people, with some places expected to see historic temperatures. Feels-like temperatures are forecast to reach between 100 and 113 degrees along the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic coasts Thursday.
