A person has died after reportedly entering a closed-off area near the Kilauea volcano within Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park. It happened on the east side of Kilauea caldera within the national park.

Over 10 inches of rain fell in just 24 hours this weekend across parts of Hawaii as the state is drenched by a sprawling storm system.
