Sheriff's deputy saves man trapped in burning vehicle after crash
When a vehicle caught fire after crashing and the driver was trapped, bystanders and an Osceola County Sheriff's deputy came to the rescue to save the man from the flames. Video shows the deputy arriving on scene and helping to free the man from the car before the flames got too close.
A Michigan sheriff's deputy jumped into action to save a man who was trapped in a burning vehicle after a crash on July 4.
Video shows the moment the deputy arrived on scene, jumping out of his vehicle and grabbing a fire extinguisher before running to the burning truck.
"Is everybody out of the truck?" he asked a person standing near the vehicle.

A person responded, telling the deputy one person was still inside.
The vehicle was in a clearing near some trees, with the front end crunched up and on fire. The driver's door was dented, and the mirror was ripped off, making the driver unable to get out.
The deputy asked the man his name, then told the other people standing nearby to run and grab a bar out of the back of his patrol vehicle so he could pry the door open.

Hurriedly, the deputy began trying to pry the door away from the truck, as the flames kept growing.
"Somebody get another fire extinguisher!" he yelled to the people, as the flames grew larger, getting closer to the man.

As someone brought another fire extinguisher, he began spraying the flames again.

"God help us," he said, as he sprayed the foam on the fire.
The officer radioed to dispatch letting them know the man was still trapped.

Dispatch responded saying the fire department was on their way. A few seconds later, sirens began chirping in the background as backup arrived.

Unable to get the door open, the deputy and another person worked together to pull the man out.
"My leg is stuck!" the driver yelled.
"We've got to save you, man!" the deputy said back, panting as they worked to pull him out.

Together, they were able to get the man out, and pulled him to the ground, pulling him away from the flames.

"Thank God," the deputy said in relief.
The man laid on the ground when they were able to get him far enough away from the fire.
"You're amazing," a woman said, as she and another man hugged the deputy.
A group of law enforcement arrived to put the fire out and check on the driver, whose arm was hurt.
