FOX Weather announces Mississippi State University scholarship winner

She is currently a junior at Mississippi State University, majoring in broadcast meteorology.

The first recipient of the FOX Weather endowed scholarship at Mississippi State University was announced Monday. 

FOX Weather has named Haley Meier the inaugural recipient of its scholarship program. She is currently a junior at Mississippi State University, majoring in broadcast meteorology.

"We are proud to recognize Haley Meier as our first Mississippi State University scholarship recipient. As we look to foster the next generation of broadcast meteorologists, we are confident this scholarship will help students take the next step in chasing their dreams," President of FOX Weather Sharri Berg said. 

In addition to being a full-time student, Meier also serves as a weekend morning meteorologist for WTVA-TV in Tupelo, Mississippi.

"I am incredibly honored for the opportunity to work with such an entrepreneurial organization that is committed to the advancement and continued innovation of meteorological sciences," Meier said. 

The scholarship will apply to Meier’s 2022-23 school year.

FOX Weather partnered with Mississippi State, one of the premier meteorology schools in the country, to create a scholarship for future meteorologists.

Students with a concentration in either broadcast meteorology or professional meteorology or climatology are eligible for the scholarship.
