Video captures apparent multi-vortex tornado near Bridge City, Texas

This appeared to be the same storm that prompted the reports of a tornado near La Belle, Mauriceville and Orange, Texas

BRIDGE CITY, Texas – A storm chaser posted a video Wednesday morning on Twitter of what appeared to be a multi-vortex wedge tornado on the ground near Bridge City, Texas.

It is unknown at this time if the tornado caused any significant damage or injuries. This appeared to be the same storm that prompted the reports of a tornado near La Belle, Mauriceville and Orange. Tornadoes were also reported in Louisiana as the storm moved eastward.

A large wedge tornado has smaller vortices rotating around the tornado. Sometimes these smaller vortices can result in isolated, but the most extreme wind. They can also be within the wedge tornado, but these are hard to confirm.

As the intense storm system moved across Texas and Louisiana the National Weather Service issued tornado watches and warnings to help warn residents of widespread wind gusts up to 70 mph and quarter-sized hail.

More than 85,000 people were without power in Texas as of 9:30 a.m. Central time Wednesday.
