Watch: Hail pelts high school softball team during storm in Ohio

Severe weather passed through Ohio Friday, bringing hail and damaging wind to parts of the Buckeye State.

COLUMBUS, Ohio - Video posted on social media Monday by the Olentangy Liberty High School softball showed players being pelted by hail during a thunderstorm last week just north of Columbus.

"We had some crazy weather on Friday with a hail storm that covered our field in a matter of 3 minutes," tweeted the team.

The footage showed the Ohio athletes running off the field as they were peppered by a deluge of white hailstones.

Some stayed behind and braved the hail, trying to put a net away. Others could be heard encouraging them to seek shelter instead.

"Leave it! Let’s go!" someone shouted in the video.

The young women could be heard laughing and screaming as they rushed to shelter in the dugout.
