Invest 93C churns in the Pacific as storm could become a tropical depression by Wednesday

Hawaii is facing tropical trouble amid the development of Invest 93C
INVEST UPDATE: FOX Weather Meteorologist Steve Bender shares an update on the development of Invest 93C as the storm targets Hawaii later this week.
HAWAII – Severe weather conditions continue to brew in the Pacific Ocean as forecasters predict Invest 93L could become a tropical depression by Wednesday.
The westernmost disturbance, Invest 93C, has a high chance of development as it targets the Hawaiian Islands later in the week.
The other disturbance is no threat to land at this time, but has a chance at developing with odds currently in the medium category.

This is the early stages of development, making it difficult for forecast models to predict where the storm's center will be, which is important for the future track of this disturbance.

"If the center stays on the eastern side of thunderstorm activity, this would eventually allow the storm to track closer to the Hawaiian Islands, perhaps even a near landfall," the FOX Forecast Center said. "If the center stays on the western side of thunderstorm activity, this would likely keep the center from ever making landfall on Hawaii's Big Island."
The term "invest" is used every hurricane season in the Atlantic and the Eastern and Central Pacific basins, accompanied by a number from 90 to 99 and either the suffix "L," "E" or "C," respectively.
This comes as the National Hurricane Center is marking the center of the disturbance farther east, where a tropical storm or hurricane could develop and make landfall in Hawaii.
The storm's path will determine the severity of impacts in parts of Hawaii.

In light of this, forecasters note that the most important detail for Invest 93C is that the storm is coming together just south of Hawaii, where much warmer waters can help fuel a stronger storm.
The development of Invest 93C over the next few days will help solidify how severe the impacts could be.

"The big picture is that Hawaii is facing a legit tropical threat for the first time since probably Hone (2024), which did not make landfall, but was a hurricane as it brushed by all the islands to the south," the FOX Forecast Center said.

Regardless of whether there is a landfall, there will certainly be significant impacts, including monster waves as high as 15 feet crashing along the coast and increasing the risk of coastal flooding.
Invest 93C is now next up on the list of named storms in the Central Pacific, as this could become Lala.
