TRUCKEE, Calif. -- A semi truck smashed into a barrier then burst into flames while travelling along a rain-slickened northern California freeway Sunday afternoon.

The crash happened in the eastbound lanes of Interstate 80 near Floriston, according to the California Highway Patrol.  The truck collided with a bridge wall, then caught fire with the cab of the semi left dangling off the overpass.

Luckily, no one was injured.

"Sometimes there aren't even words," the CHP tweeted. "It's amazing no one got hurt."

Firefighters put the fire out and one lane was left open, but the CHP warned the cleanup would be "extensive".

Troopers haven't said what caused the crash.
