Flash flood threat escalates for nearly 60M across Northeast, New England, including I-95 corridor
A dangerous flash flood threat is increasing for nearly 60 million people across the Northeast, Mid-Atlantic and southern New England, with more rounds of heavy rain expected to soak the region through Monday night. NOAA'S Weather Prediction Center has issued a Level 3 out of 4 risk of flash flooding for New York City, Long Island, as well as Coastal Connecticut, Rhode Island and southeastern Massachusetts. A broader Level 2 of 4 flash flood risk extends from central Massachusetts through New York's Lower Hudson Valley, and the Delmarva to western Pennsylvania. Heavy rain and thunderstorms from this weekend saturated the soil across the region, creating prime conditions for flash flooding Monday.
OCEAN TOWNSHIP, N.J. - A roof has partially collapsed at a wholesale club in the tristate, and officials are asking people to avoid the area due to severe flooding.
The Monmouth County Sheriff's Office said they're currently responding to a roof collapse at BJ's Wholesale Club in Ocean Township.

Authorities said the collapse happened at around 11:15 a.m. There were 27 people inside the building at the time.

Two individuals were partially trapped, but were able to free themselves and safely get out of the building, according to the sheriff's office.
The sheriff's office is asking people to avoid Route 35 and stay clear of the area to allow emergency personnel to safely respond.
Officials said it is extremely dangerous to travel due to the flooding.
Authorities said no injuries were reported. Numerous local, county and regional emergency agencies remain at the scene.

Primary and secondary searches of the building were conducted using the Monmouth County Sheriff's Office interior drone and K-9 teams.
"This incident is another reminder of how quickly severe weather can create dangerous and unpredictable conditions," Monmouth County Sheriff Shaun Golden said. "We commend all first responders who worked with urgency under challenging circumstances."

"Despite the ongoing flooding and severe weather affecting our communities, all worked seamlessly together to ensure everyone was safely accounted for. Their dedication and teamwork exemplify the very best of public safety," Golden continued.
More severe weather is expected on Monday, according to the FOX Forecast Center.

The FOX Forecast Center said the heaviest rain is moving out of the area, but showers will continue throughout the day.
