Record-breaking temperatures possible for the central, eastern US this weekend
Spots in West Texas could even exceed the 90-degree mark.
Potentially record-breaking temperatures will be present for much of the central and eastern United States this holiday weekend.
Well-above average temperatures from the Southern Plains to the Mid-Atlantic will tie, and even have the chance at breaking the record for high temperatures.
High temperatures will range from 25 to 35 degrees above normal. Some spots in West Texas could even exceed the 90-degree mark.
It has surely been a December to remember as record warmth has shattered previous records.
Temperatures will remain warm and dry before a cold front arrives in the High Plains on Sunday.
There will be a critical risk for fire danger in the central U.S. due to the already warm conditions and forecasted windy conditions ahead of the cold front.
