PHOTOS: Massive icicles hang out amid arctic blast in Pacific Northwest

Some icicles were measured in feet instead of inches as days of snow and sub-freezing temperatures hit the Pacific Northwest this week.

First came the snow across Washington state, then the temperatures that plunged into the teens and even single digits.

Add in a bit of sunshine and a brief period of above-freezing temperatures to start to melt the snow, then refreeze it all again as temperatures plunged once again, and you have a recipe for some icicles.

Some huge ones, in fact.

The gallery above showcases some icicles spotted across parts of western and central Washington this week – some measured in feet instead of inches!
