NWS confirms EF-0 tornado touchdown in Alabama Tuesday night

No injuries reported as a result of the tornado

MADISON COUNTY, Ala. - Survey crews with the National Weather Service said they have found damage consistent with an EF-0 tornado in Madison County, Alabama.

The NWS says the tornado had winds of 76 mph and was on the ground for just over 3 miles before lifting off the ground Tuesday night.

The tornado touched down around 8:22 p.m. local time about 2 miles to the southeast of Hazel Green, and the NWS said at least two trees were uprooted and crews found several areas of large branches on the ground.

Most of the damage was centered along the Grimwood Drive area, west of US 431. Damage was also reported in a neighborhood near Bently and Cherrywood Drive.

The NWS said the tornado dissipated around 8:25 p.m. about 2 miles to the southeast of Hazel Green.

No injuries were reported as a result of the tornado.
