FLORIDA – Wet weather returns to parts of the Sunshine State this weekend, after a brief relief, as persistent rain and strong wind gusts create a messy scene for thousands.
This comes as a stalled frontal boundary hovers over Florida, bringing soggy, gusty conditions through the weekend for southern portions of the state.
Meteorologists at the FOX Forecast Center note that as high pressure wedges behind a decaying front, a tight pressure gradient will hover over the peninsula, fueling strong easterly onshore winds gusting anywhere from 30 to 40 mph across the Atlantic Coast from Daytona Beach down to Miami-Dade.
HOW HIGH PRESSURE AND LOW PRESSURE DRIVE THE WEATHER
"The combination of persistent colliding winds along the front and deep tropical moisture lifting north over the front will bring widespread waves of showers and downpours," the FOX Forecast Center said.

Because of these persistent conditions, a Level 1 out of 4 flash flood threat is active across the East Coast of Florida throughout the weekend.
Gusty onshore winds will produce choppy, dangerous waves along the coast, increasing the risk of rip currents, high surf and minor beach issues.
This will also help produce king tides next week, but the high tide cycle will peak by the end of that week.
