Tropical disturbance becomes better organized off NC coast

The National Hurricane Center reports an area of disturbed weather about 150 miles off the coast of North Carolina has gotten better organized over the last 24 hours.

The NHC puts the chance of a tropical or subtropical storm forming at around 50%.

Currently, Invest 92L is producing a broad area of gale-force winds, mainly to the west and north of the center.

Any development is expected to be short-lived. The disturbance is expected to interact with a cold front on Sunday evening, which should end the opportunity for any additional formation. 

Regardless of development, the low is forecast to meander just offshore of the Carolinas for the next few days. It will bring locally heavy rain and gusty winds to portions of the eastern Carolinas through the weekend.
