There will be a high fire danger Tuesday due to gusty winds and low humidity across Southeast Colorado and Southwest Kansas.
A Fire Weather Warning is in effect from noon to 7 p.m. MDT Tuesday.
Counties shaded in orange are under a Fire Weather Watch until 6 p.m. MDT.
Strong winds and dry conditions are in the forecast for the region.
Forecasted southwest winds ranging from 15 to 25 mph will be in place. Winds could gust up to 40 mph at times.
Officials warn residents to avoid activities that could start a fire, as conditions are favorable for any fires to spread quickly.
