Chicagoland area could see several inches of additional snow through Monday

Three to five inches of snow is possible throughout portions of northeast Illinois, but there could be localized heavier amounts where heavier snow bands set up

CHICAGO – A clipper system will bring snow to the Chicagoland area Sunday and Monday.

Chicago and its suburbs saw a light dusting of snow Saturday, and more snow is expected through Sunday and Monday, although snowfall rates are expected to be light.

The period of accumulating snow developed late Saturday evening and continues into Sunday morning.

As another clipper system moves through the area Sunday and Monday, an additional 1-3 inches of snow is expected from Chicago, Waukegan and Hammond, to the west in Elgin, Rockford, Plano, Naperville and Joliet.

The National Weather Service has Winter Weather Alerts in place from Minnesota to parts of West Virginia, Pennsylvania and New York through Sunday.

High temperatures for Chicago will dip to the low 20s for highs on Sunday.
