As fall progresses, temperatures will steadily drop as northern states begin preparing for the season's first snow.
The temperature shift comes as a massive cold front moves across the U.S. later this week, accompanied by an area of low pressure moving into the Great Lakes and Northeast region starting Friday and intensifying on Saturday.
"As this area of low pressure strengthens, the pressure gradient between it and the strong high to its west will increase the coverage of gusty winds across much of the Northeast, helping usher in cooler air," the FOX Forecast Center said.

A surge in low pressure across portions of the Midwest and Great Lakes on Thursday will help bring rain showers later in the evening to parts of the Northeast and northern New England.
A cold front associated with this low-pressure area will center over Southeastern Canada, bringing heavy rain to cities such as Syracuse, New York, Burlington, Vermont, and Bangor, Maine, by mid-afternoon Friday.
As this cold front continues through Friday night, cooler air will flow in from the Northwest, helping maintain strong winds of 20 to 30 mph.
As leftover moisture from the wet weather combines with the low-pressure area, it will help produce cooler temperatures and bring some snow across higher elevations on Saturday.
Meteorologists at the FOX Forecast Center predict 1 to 3 inches of snow across the Adirondacks and the Green and White Mountains, marking some of the first measurable snowfall of the season in some areas.
This comes as areas stretching from Montana and the Northern Rockies have begun to see snowfall, including at the iconic Mount Washington Observatory in New Hampshire.
With this early snowfall trend, experts at Kalshi break down the odds of how much it could snow in Big Sky for December as temperatures steadily drop and the first days of measurable snowfall approach.
Prediction markets at Kalshi predict a 70% chance that Big Sky will see more than 35 inches of snow and a 53% chance of more than 40 inches.
