Besides Ida, NHC tracking two more areas of interest in Atlantic

Depressions likely to form over the weekend, NHC says

In addition to Tropical Storm Ida, the National Hurricane Center was tracking two more areas Friday in the Atlantic.

Invest 97L

The first is located about 600 miles east of Bermuda. Invest 97L has a 60% chance of development within the next five days. Forecasters said a tropical depression could form over the weekend. Models suggest the system does not pose a threat to the U.S. mainland at this time.

Invest 98L

The second area is located in the open Atlantic between the Cabo Verde Islands and the Lesser Antilles. Invest 98L has an 80% chance of development within the next five days. Forecasters said a tropical depression is likely to form before the system moves into a less favorable environment for development. Models suggest this system does not pose a threat to the U.S. mainland at this time.
