Severe storms to slam Gulf Coast with final round of rain as flash flood threat persists
The relentless pattern of heavy rain and severe weather will continue across the Gulf Coast and Southeast for one last day. This comes after an exceptionally wet stretch where many areas from Louisiana through Alabama and Georgia have already picked up a widespread 3-6 inches of rain. NOAA's Storm Prediction Center (SPC) has issued a Level 1 out of 5 risk of severe thunderstorms from the Carolina coast through Florida's Atlantic Coast. Storms in this area are expected to develop late Monday morning and last through the afternoon. A second Level 1 threat covers the Gulf Coast from Lake Charles, Louisiana to the western edge of the Florida Panhandle. These storms will develop later Monday afternoon.
