Significant severe weather threat returns for 25M across Midwest still reeling from windstorm
Millions across the Midwest face another round of dangerous severe weather Thursday, one day after a 350-mile derecho knocked out power to hundreds of thousands of people. A Level 3 out of 5 risk of severe thunderstorms covers a 600-mile corridor Thursday from eastern Missouri to northern Michigan, including Milwaukee and Chicago. Storms are expected to redevelop over this area Thursday afternoon. Damaging wind exceeding 70 mph will be the most widespread hazard, but large hail and tornadoes are also possible, especially within supercell thunderstorms that develop.
