Before and after collapse of iconic Hōlei Sea Arch in Hawai'i Volcanoes National Park
The Hōlei Sea Arch stood for more than 550 years and was formed from lava rock. The arch sustained numerous cracks and damage over the years, and collapsed sometime between Sept. 23 and Sept. 27, 2026, during Hawai'i Volcanoes National Park's closure for Hurricane Nolo.
