We are one day away from the start of the Eastern Pacific hurricane season, and an El Niño is developing, which generally means more tropical activity. However, for Hawaii, El Niño doesn't necessarily mean hurricanes. But El Niño plus a positive Pacific Meridional Mode phase could mean more tropics for the islands.
