A shifting heat dome is setting the stage for severe thunderstorms across New England. Storms are expected to develop Tuesday afternoon and continue into the overnight hours, with damaging wind gusts posing the primary threat. A Level 2 of 5 severe weather risk is in effect for far northern New York, Vermont, New Hampshire and much of Maine.
