Norbert to become post-tropical near Hawaii as dry air brings brief lull in hyperactive Pacific

Hawaii will get a reprieve from a rare spate of tropical activity as Tropical Depression Norbert is expected to weaken into a remnant area of low pressure before reaching the vicinity of the islands. A burst of dry air is preventing Norbert from strengthening. The dry air is also disrupting Tropical Depression 15-E which was initially expected to become the Pacific's next named storm. This brief pause in tropical activity comes amid a Pacific hurricane season that has been supercharged by the El Niño climate pattern.
