Tropical activity begins to stir in the open waters of the Atlantic amid quiet hurricane season
The National Hurricane Center is giving an area to watch several hundred miles southwest of the Cabo Verde Islands a high chance of tropical development over the next seven days. This is one of a few signs that tropical activity could finally begin to pick up in the open waters of the Atlantic after a quiet start to the 2026 hurricane season.
