Tropical Storm Bertha forms, bringing days of rain and storm surge along parts of the Gulf Coast
Tropical Storm Bertha formed Monday in the eastern Gulf, becoming the second named storm of the Atlantic hurricane season. Bertha strengthened from Tropical Depression Two and is expected to bring days of heavy rain to parts of the Southeast.

Tropical Depression Two has a broad circulation with clusters of heavy thunderstorms, but it's infused with dry air. The overall environment is less conducive to organizing and strengthening today, but the moderately hostile upper winds still might abate enough for the system to spin up into Tropical Storm Bertha.
