A person has died after reportedly entering a closed-off area near the Kilauea volcano within Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park. It happened on the east side of Kilauea caldera within the national park.

A severe storm that has drenched much of Hawaii has caused a landslide that reportedly blocked a highway in Maui, as well as many downed power lines, on Monday. Both lanes of traffic on Hana Highway were blocked by debris in the road.
Hawaii soaked by sprawling storm as government monitors growing flood threat
Over 10 inches of rain fell in just 24 hours this weekend across parts of Hawaii as the state is drenched by a sprawling storm system. State offices and public schools were closed Monday after Governor Josh Green issued an emergency proclamation over the weekend ahead of potential widespread flooding and power outages.
