When dogs fly: Paragliding Samoyed takes flight with his human

Filmmaker Shams says Ouka ‘shows no fear or anxiety’ during their adventures

If you were to travel to the French Alps, the powerful bond between a filmmaker and his dog would be on full display.

Filmmaker Shams and his Samoyed Ouka are a paragliding duo who soar over mountains in Europe.

Shams told FOX Weather Wild that Ouka enjoys the outdoors and is in his element when taken paragliding.

"One of my favorite things is to hike on top of a mountain and fly down," Shams said. "And I thought, if I can do that with Ouka, it would be the perfect combo for both of us."

After many flights with his furry companion, the adventure filmmaker is still in awe of how relaxed Ouka is above ground, noting the Samoyed is "super chill."

"He never showed any signs of fear or anxiety."

Shams says the best weather conditions for him and his furry friend are when there's a little bit of wind. But Shams notes that anything more than 20 kilometers an hour is too much.

Besides paragliding, Ouka and Shams stand up paddle board and run in the mountains together.

The filmmaker doesn’t know how many years Ouka can continue paragliding. However, with the energetic Samoyed strapped in securely and still loving the ride, Shams hopes many more adventures are to come.
