SpaceX is maintaining its aggressive launch cadence this month as the commercial space company works to support NASA’s ambitious Artemis timeline and help return humans to the moon.
Just 10 days into September, SpaceX has already completed four launches, three carrying Starlink broadband satellites into orbit and a U.S. Space Force mission that launched on Thursday.

Falcon 9, SpaceX’s partially reusable, two-stage rocket, is scheduled to launch a series of payloads into orbit this month, including Starlink satellites, SES communications satellites and classified missions for the U.S. Space Force.

Among the month’s biggest missions are the anticipated Starship Flight 14 test and the Crew-13 astronaut launch to the International Space Station.
Targeted for no earlier than Sept. 15, Starship Flight 14 will put SpaceX’s massive, next-generation rocket through another high-profile test above South Texas, with the company potentially using the mission to deploy the first Starlink Version 3 satellites.

Beyond testing the rocket itself, SpaceX is developing Starship as NASA’s Human Landing System for Artemis, where a future version is expected to carry astronauts from lunar orbit to the Moon’s surface and back as part of the agency’s planned return to the moon.
NASA and SpaceX postponed the Crew-13 mission from its scheduled Sept. 12 launch date after detecting an oxidizer leak in the Crew Dragon’s propulsion system.

The mission will carry NASA astronauts Jessica Watkins and Luke Delaney, Canadian Space Agency astronaut Joshua Kutryk and Roscosmos cosmonaut Sergey Teteryatnikov to the International Space Station aboard Falcon 9 carrying the Dragon spacecraft Grace.
