Watch: Flooding wipes out Mississippi woman's home, tragically drowning entire chicken flock

PICAYUNE, Miss. – Disaster ensued for a resident in Mississippi after heavy rain caused chickens on her property to drown due to flooding.

Video footage shared to Storyful by Kristina Malott shows the wet scene of a front yard completely inundated in heavy flooding.

Plants are drowned in water, and various items are scattered all around.

"That’s up to my shin," Malott said while walking through the flooded yard.

Eventually, Mallot walks into a shed that is completely flooded, resulting in the drowning and death of her animals.

"No words. This happened within 30 minutes," Malott said on Facebook. "Whole downtown was flooded. My chickens drowned. Workshop total loss."

Mallot stated in a Facebook post that the heavy flooding also damaged her house.

The woman told Storyful that her yard had flooded before due to drains in the street "not being able to keep up."

This comes as the National Weather Service has issued a Flood Watch in Picayune, Mississippi, until Friday.

Roughly 5 to 8 inches of rainfall has been recorded in the area in the past two days, according to the FOX Forecast Center.

The area has seen several damage reports due to the excessive rainfall.
