A strong area of high pressure is forecast to move into eastern Canada next week, while an area of low pressure could develop off the Mid-Atlantic coast by midweek – setting the stage for a coastal storm sending impacts into the Northeast.

The timing, location and intensity of the potential storm remain uncertain, though impacts could begin late Tuesday and continue through Friday.

Showers and soggy conditions are also possible along the I-95 corridor Tuesday and Wednesday, helping keep temperatures 10 to 15 degrees below average.

Highs Tuesday could remain in the upper 50s to near 60°F. In New York City, a high around 60°F would be the coolest since mid-May.
