Magnitude 4.8 earthquake rattles the southern coast of Puerto Rico

The earthquake happened at 9:19 a.m. Eastern, a little more than 3 miles southwest of Guánica, Puerto Rico.

A magnitude 4.8 earthquake occurred on the southern coast of Puerto Rico on Friday morning, rattling the island.

EARTHQUAKE JOLTS LOS ANGELES AREA AS MAGNITUDE 3.1 TEMBLOR STRIKES NEAR COMPTON

Light to moderate shaking was reported across the western half of the island, per the U.S. Geological Survey. 

The earthquake was reported 4.3 miles below the surface.
