Franklin becomes season's first major hurricane

Hurricane Franklin strengthened into the season's first major hurricane early Monday morning. The Category 3 hurricane is not expected to make landfall in the U.S., but the storm will send large waves toward the coast which will lead to beach erosion and dangerous rip currents.
