Florida faces growing tropical threat

The National Hurricane Center has increased the chance of development to 70% in the western Caribbean and eastern Gulf of Mexico. A broad area of low pressure has developed over the western Caribbean Sea and producing widespread, disorganized thunderstorms. Conditions support gradual development for at least a tropical depression to form late this weekend or early next week as the disturbance moves north through the Caribbean and into the Gulf of Mexico.
