Cold front charging east, ending record heat across US heading into weekend
Highs will once again soar to record levels, as nearly a dozen records could fall on Friday. Most of these records will be located in the Great Lakes and Northeast. Meanwhile, a potent cold front will begin quickly advancing east across the Central U.S. This will send temperatures plunging, with some locations expected to a see nearly a 40 degree temperature drop within 24 hours. Temperatures will return closer to average, ending this fairly significant stretch of unusual warmth.
